Runaway

Kindly rewind, kindly play back the morning
Kindly remind her where she's going, and where she came from
Tip toes delicately land on each step,
The occasional creak slows down her stride,
She moves like a ballet dancer across the hallway floor, opens the door, lifts the latch
And closes it behind her, quietly, so very quietly behind her
Breathe in, she does and disturbs the morning blue
The sunrise has not graced the leaves and trees with its morning dew,
It is still fast asleep, in god's pockets while she walks
No need for iPod, no need for sound at all,
No need for no more delegating, she slowly picks up her stride
Her trainers gently tap the pavement, again and again
Her limbs are light but with clockwork motion only heavy machinery could imitate
She's concentrating on each breath, each glorious breath
Runs past petroleum stained puddles, and locked out dozing cats
She soon hears faint engine noises, the rubbish lorries are early for once
She sees a faint silhouette of the postman, also, so early for once
The stride, the breathing, the noise, it all increases more and more
The sweat beads reflects the sunshine awoken, released from its capsule
She weaves through passers by, their faces blurred but tired, oh so tired
Quietly slips down a pathway to escape the drone of cars
The colours are brighter now, she's no longer by herself
She's breathing hard, each. breath. so. deep.
Her limbs are heavy like the heavy machinery that sounds around her,
She doesn't fall into the dark, no she is discovered by the day
She turns around, slows down a little and heads back to the creeks of the sleeping house.

She'll have to wait another morning, perhaps another day
When she can momentarily, run by herself, and try again, to runaway.
